Step-by-Step Setup to Using Proxies for Growtopia
If you are playing Growtopia and dealing with lag, bans, or just want a bit more privacy, using a proxy can actually make a big difference. But I get it, setting one up sounds complicated if you have never done it before. So in this post, I will show you the exact steps that work.
Why Even Bother With a Proxy?
Let’s keep it real. Most people use proxies in Growtopia for stuff like:
- Avoiding IP bans (especially after botting or using alts)
- Reducing lag by routing through a better server
- Getting around country blocks
- Keeping your IP hidden
Basically, it gives you more control over how you connect to the game. But to get all those benefits, you need to set it up the right way, and it starts with using the right kind of proxy.
Choose a Proxy That Actually Works for Growtopia
Not all proxies are built the same. For Growtopia, you want something that is:
- Fast and stable
- Residential or ISP-grade (so it looks like normal traffic)
- SOCKS5 support
- Static IP (so it doesn’t keep switching mid-game)
That is why I recommend Ziny Proxy, they’ve got clean, high-quality residential and ISP proxies that work great with Growtopia, especially if you are managing multiple accounts or farming. They are also easy to set up and don’t lag like free proxies do.
Get Your Proxy Info
Once you grab a plan from Ziny Proxy (or any other trusted provider), they will send you:
- An IP address (like 123.45.67.89)
- Port (usually 1080 or 8080)
- Username & password (or you may need to whitelist your IP instead)
Keep those details nearby, we will plug them into the next step.
Set It Up on Your PC
There are two ways to go about this: using proxy software or changing your system settings. Personally, I go with proxy software, it gives you more control and doesn’t mess with your whole internet connection.
Option A: Use Proxy Software (Like Proxifier)
This lets you route just Growtopia through your proxy.
Here’s how to do it using Proxifier on Windows:
- Download and install Proxifier
- Go to Profile > Proxy Servers
- Click Add, then enter:
- Address: your proxy IP from Ziny
- Port: the one they gave you
- Protocol: select SOCKS5
- If you got login details, enter your username & password
- Hit OK, then go to Profile > Proxification Rules
- Add a rule that applies only to Growtopia.exe
That;s it. Now only Growtopia will run through your proxy, and the rest of your system stays untouched.
Option B: Set It Up in Windows Settings (Less Ideal)
This changes the proxy for your entire internet connection.
Quick version:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy
- Enable manual proxy setup
- Enter your proxy IP and port
- Save and close
It works, but I don’t recommend this unless you need everything to go through a proxy.
Launch the Game and Test It
Now open Growtopia.
If the setup worked, you will notice:
- Normal connection (maybe even smoother ping)
- You are not getting banned due to your original IP
- Your IP changes when checked via whatismyipaddress.com
If it does not connect, double-check your settings, port, and make sure your proxy supports SOCKS5 (Ziny does, by the way).
Using proxies gives you an edge, but don’t abuse it. Some quick tips:
- Don’t run 10 accounts on the same proxy
- Rotate your IPs if you’re running bots or farming hard
- Avoid free proxies, they’re slow and often blacklisted
- And of course, play fair, proxies won’t protect you from breaking the game’s rules
Proxies aren’t magic, but they unlock a lot of flexibility in Growtopia, especially if you’re into farming, trading, or account management. Set it up right, and it just works in the background. If you’re not sure where to start, I recommend trying out Ziny Proxy, their setup is beginner-friendly, and they’ve got the performance to back it up.
